Nihonga (日本画, “Japanese-style paintings”) are Japanese paintings from about 1900 onwards that have been made in accordance with traditional Japanese artistic conventions, techniques and materials. While based on traditions over a thousand years old, the term was coined in the Meiji period of Imperial Japan, to distinguish such works from Western-style paintings or Yōga (洋画). (from Wikipedia)
Japanese Painter (Nihongaka)
Shinsuke Shiroiwa ( 白岩伸介, July 18, 1935 -) is Japanese Artist, Japanese Painter, Nihonga Painter.
His real name is Keisuke Shiroiwa (白岩圭介）He was born in Tokiwa- machi, Fukushima Prefecture.
He graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and became a disciple of Seison Maeda, Ikuo Hirayama, and Kyochu Suda. He is a member of Nihon Bijutsuin and Kamakurakai.
He took part in the part of restoration of the paintings at the ancient tombs of Takamatsu-zuka.
白岩 伸介（しろいわ しんすけ) は日本画家、教育者。本名は圭介(けいすけ) 。
福島県常葉町生まれ。東京藝術大学日本画科卒・専攻科修了。青郁会、鎌倉会所属。
前田青邨、平山郁夫、須田珙中に師事。
日本美術院院友。
魚と人との関係のテーマの作品多数、その他ヨーロッパ風景画等。
昭和49年、高松塚古墳復刻プロジェクトに携わる（白虎担当）農林水産省分室会議室、長官室、ウズベキスタン・日本人材開発センター等に飾られている。
